Custom Chimney Caps & Dampers in Estacada and the Portland Metro
Why a cap that actually fits matters, what made-to-fit stainless gets you, and the damper that pays for itself.

Every cap we install is locally made stainless steel, powder coated to fit your chimney. We also install top-sealing dampers, the kind that pay for themselves by closing off the flue at the top when the fireplace sits idle.
Made here, made to fit
A cap only works if it fits the chimney it sits on. Ours are not pulled off a shelf in a size that is close enough:
- Locally made from stainless steel, so they hold up to what comes out of a flue
- Powder coated to fit your flue and crown, so they hold up to what comes out of the sky
- Fit and finish checked at install, with a free cap check on every sweep after
That is what made-to-fit gets you: a cap that sits right, stays put, and holds up.
What a cap does all year
Rain is the main job. An uncapped or badly capped flue lets water straight into the system, where it rusts dampers, stains the firebox, and soaks the masonry from the inside. A good cap also keeps debris out of the flue, which matters more than people think in a metro full of trees.
Every sweep we run includes a free chimney cap check, so you find out the condition of yours without paying for a separate visit. If it is loose, rusted, or missing, you will hear about it with photos, along with what a replacement would run.
Top-sealing dampers
A traditional damper sits down at the firebox, which means the whole flue column above it is open to the house. A top-sealing damper closes the flue at the top instead, sealing the column off entirely when the fireplace is not in use.
That is why we say they pay for themselves. Conditioned air stays in the house instead of drifting up the chimney, season after season. If your throat damper is rusted or warped, a top-sealing replacement is usually the smarter spend.
Pricing and booking
Caps and dampers are quoted after a look, because no two of these jobs are the same:
- Flue size changes the cap and the damper that fits it
- Crown condition changes what the new cap has to seal against
- Chimney height and roof access change the setup
The quote is confirmed before work starts, with no surprise add-ons. If you want the fast version, book a sweep first. The cap check is included, and you get a real answer about what your chimney needs.
Call or text (503) 898-8856, or book online in two steps. Same-week service is available across the metro, and weekend appointments can be booked when weekdays do not fit.

FAQ
How is a custom cap different from a store-bought one?
Fit and material. A custom cap is measured for your flue and crown, made locally from stainless steel, and powder coated to fit, so it sits right and stays put. Stock caps come in fixed sizes that rarely match a chimney exactly. Ours are sized to your chimney, not to a shelf.
Do I need a damper if I already have one in the fireplace?
A top-sealing damper sits at the top of the flue instead of down at the firebox, so the whole column stays closed off when the fireplace is not in use. That is why we say they pay for themselves. Your existing damper gets a look during any sweep and inspection.
What does a custom cap cost?
Cap and damper pricing depends on your chimney's size and setup, so it is quoted after a look rather than flat-rated. The quote is confirmed before any work starts, with no surprise add-ons. Every sweep we run already includes a free chimney cap check, so start there if you are unsure.
