Chimney Sweep & Inspection in Estacada and the Portland Metro

What's actually inside a $240 sweep, why the inspection matters as much as the cleaning, and how to know when your chimney is due.

A standard chimney sweep and inspection is $240 flat, confirmed before any work starts. You get rotary sweeping with HEPA equipment, a full visual inspection of the flue, damper, crown, and masonry, and a free chimney cap check. No surprise add-ons, no mess left behind, ever.

What the $240 covers

The flat rate buys two things at once, plus a freebie on top:

  • The rotary sweep, run with HEPA equipment that clears creosote and debris out of the flue
  • The full visual inspection riding along with it: liner, damper, crown, cap, and masonry checked while the equipment works
  • A free chimney cap check with every visit

That number is confirmed before anyone climbs a ladder. If the inspection turns up something beyond a standard sweep, like masonry damage or a damper that has given up, it gets walked through with photos and quoted separately. Nothing extra shows up on the bill that you did not agree to first.

No mess, guaranteed

Most people picture a sweep as soot on the carpet and dust on the furniture. That is not how this goes. The rotary equipment pairs with HEPA containment, the work area gets floor-to-roofline protection, and the crew wears shoe covers inside your home. Debris stays inside the system where it belongs.

When the crew leaves, the fireplace area looks the way it did when they arrived. That is the guarantee, and it applies to every visit, not just the easy ones.

How often a chimney needs it

Industry guidance is a yearly sweep for wood-burning fireplaces and stoves that see regular use. Creosote builds with every fire, and creosote is the fuel in most chimney fires. Burn through an Oregon winter without one and you are carrying a full season of buildup into the next.

Gas systems are different. They need less frequent sweeping, but they still benefit from periodic checks, because venting and caps age whether you burn wood or not. If you are not sure where your setup falls, ask. It beats guessing.

  • Burning most weeks in winter: sweep every year
  • Occasional fires: ask about the right interval at booking
  • Gas fireplace or insert: periodic checks, not necessarily annual sweeps
  • Just bought the house: get a sweep and inspection before the first fire

If the inspection finds something

Small problems are cheap. Big ones are not, and the difference is usually time. A cracked crown caught on a sweep is a repair. The same crack ignored through three winters of rain becomes a rebuild. The inspection exists so you get to fix the cheap version.

Anything the sweep turns up gets explained in plain terms, with photos, before any repair is quoted. Repairs like masonry work, caps, or waterproofing are priced separately and confirmed before work starts. You will never find out about a repair by reading the invoice.

Common questions

FAQ

Is $240 really the whole price?

Yes. The $240 flat rate covers the rotary sweep with HEPA equipment, the full visual inspection, and the free chimney cap check. If the inspection turns up something that needs repair, that work gets quoted separately and confirmed with you before anything extra happens. No surprise add-ons.

How often should I have my chimney swept?

Industry guidance is once a year for wood-burning fireplaces and stoves that see regular use, because creosote builds up with every burn and it is the fuel in most chimney fires. Gas systems need less frequent sweeping but still benefit from periodic checks of the venting and cap.

Will the sweep make a mess in my living room?

No. Every sweep runs through rotary equipment paired with HEPA filtration, and the crew lays floor-to-roofline protection and wears shoe covers inside your home. Soot and debris stay contained inside the system. The no-mess guarantee means you will not be cleaning up after us.

How fast can I get on the schedule?

Same-week service is available across the metro, and weekend appointments can be booked when weekdays do not fit. Hours run Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed Sundays. Book online in two steps, or call or text (503) 898-8856 and describe your setup.
