Chimney Sweep & Repair in Portland, Oregon
Portland roofs take a beating from the rain, and chimneys take it first. First Rate Chimney sweeps, inspects, repairs, and rebuilds chimneys across the whole city, with flat-rate pricing, a no-mess guarantee, and a crew that quotes before it works. Same-week appointments are available.
A standard sweep and inspection is $240 flat, confirmed before work starts. Every visit uses rotary equipment with HEPA containment, floor-to-roofline protection, and shoe covers, so nothing ends up on your floors. If the inspection finds damage, you get photos and a separate quote, not a surprise.
A flat-rate sweep, anywhere in Portland
Every sweep in Portland runs the same way: rotary equipment with HEPA filtration, a full visual inspection, and a free chimney cap check, for $240 flat. The price gets confirmed before work starts, and it does not move after.
The no-mess guarantee is part of the deal. Floor-to-roofline protection, shoe covers, and containment that keeps soot inside the system. Your living room looks exactly the same when the crew leaves.
Portland rain finds every crack
Water is the slow killer of Portland chimneys. It works into the crown, the mortar joints, the flashing line, and it shows up months later as staining on the brick or water near the fireplace.
The fix starts with leak diagnosis on the roof. Step flashing, breathable masonry sealant built for Oregon rain, tuckpointing, crown repair, or a full rebuild, whatever the chimney actually needs, quoted custom after the crew sees it.
Wood and pellet, all covered
Wood and pellet stoves get sweeps, service, inserts, and installs, with specialized equipment for every heating appliance. Pellet stove service is $279 flat.
Caps and dampers that hold up
Custom caps are made locally from stainless steel and powder coated to fit. Top-sealing dampers pay for themselves by keeping your heated air in the house instead of letting it drift up the flue.

"Very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about all things woodstove and fireplace related. Ours was a tough job due to the height and angles of our ceiling and roof — never a complaint. They cleaned everything up before leaving."
